About
Although most Canadians hold the image of Canada as an altruistic, peaceful country, many are beginning to see that Canada’s historic and current actions are not as benevolent as widely thought. For those of us in the peace community, this myth–the myth of a peacemaker Canada–can be a challenge, because we can’t change what we can’t see. Before we can work towards influencing more positive and peace-oriented policies, we first need to point out the areas where we are falling short of our ideals.
Because of this, Project Peacemakers has decided that our theme for the year will focus on this image of Canada as peacemaker.
This simple blog will help provide links, articles and sources, as well as downloadable quick sheets that can be distributed, on topics that we are concerned about but that do not receive enough (or the right kind) of attention in the media.
Click on the tabs above to find sections that feature individual topics. Currently, only the sections on Fighter Jets and Mining are available, but we hope to add more topics and info throughout the year.
